Truth be told, there are many weight loss benefits that green tea can give you.

In the body, food is turned into a substance called "triglyceride”. It is then carried into the bloodstream and other tissues in the body. Don’t get me wrong, this is a good thing. Green tea contains many antioxidants and one in particular epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. EGCG has actually been shown to stimulate the metabolism. The increase in metabolism leads to accelerated weight loss. EGCG in combination with the caffeine from green tea promotes a process called "thermogenesis”. This provides extra energy and help the body burn excess fat. Some will argue that caffeine alone is responsible for this effect but it has been proven that combined with ingredients from green tea, the effects were much stronger that in caffeine alone.

Green tea can help you exercise longer. The catechin polyphenols in green tea stimulate the use of fatty acids by the liver and muscle cells. This reduces the rate at which carbs are used and allows for increased endurance and longer exercise times. One study on lab rats showed green tea increased the amount of time the animals could swim by as much as 24 percent. There is no denying that more endurance, energy, and exercise can and will lead to more weight loss.

So drinking green tea alone may only have small benefits when it comes to weight loss. However, those who add it to other healthy habits may find that it has a massive impact on weight loss. Drinking the best green tea brands really should be seen as a habit which you add to your daily routine. Then you may notice benefits that you hadn’t seen before.
